I am looking to get a site assessment report and plan for the effluent treatment system and a water quality test from the well on the property, this is needed to get PP on house.

Anybody have an estimate of expected costs, and work involved. Property is in in South Galway region.

No idea of exact cost but expect to pay 500 - 1000 Euro.

Ring round for a few estimates.

If the test is to be carried out to EPA 2000 standards expect to pay at least a grand and maybe more depending on site conditions. A test to the SR6 standard should be under a grand

When ringing around don't just go on price as getting somone who knows what they are doing at this stage can save alot of hassle with planning and potentially with a problematic septic tank/treament system.

for the extent of work involved in site assesment look at EPA web site the doc you want is waste water treatment systems for single houses 2000, there is a 2007 consulation draft, which is informative but not in use yet, it is also possible but unlikely that the local coco have their own site assesement form.

    Thanks Lads,

A bit green on this, a city boy, just thought water came out of taps !!!!!

Will check thru EPA site, and get back.

Do you know where I can get list of people to perform this type of work ??

some councils have an approved list of testers, which means they are vetted re: qualifications and Profesional Indemnity insurance, if yours doesn't have it have a look at adjacent counties.

might be wrong, but I got information in the post from Bord na Mona and it mentioned they do the site assement for free

No such thing as a free lunch.

What they do is charge for the assessment and if you place an order for their product they "refund" the cost by applying a discount to the overall cost.

Needless to say if you went to them and just offered to buy it straight without an assessment they will sell the Puraflo at a price equal to the cost of the unit less the cost of the site assessment. Swings and roundabouts.
