Hey all, 1st post in the airsoft forum. I'm looking to get into airsoft, used to a few airsoft pistols/shotguns years back but got bored shooting paper targets. Airsoft seems to be taking off in Ireland and seen the post about the gathering, wouldnt mind joining in, have a few friends who'd be interested aswell. Anyway straying a little form the topic there.

I want to get myself a pistol, my inner bond is making me buy a p99, my brother has a gbb baretta he got from eirsoft which is feckin cool so I'd like to get a gbb aswell. There seems to be loads of different ones on the market, I was browsing around last night and seen one by maurazen (spelling) and it comes with a tactical attachment, light and silencer. The light and attachment isnt a bif deal to me but the silencer would be cool. Does anyone know what would be the best one to go for, anything I should avoid etc? My budget would be about 150.

    Thanks

The KJW P226 is worth consideration.

Its a personal choice at the end of the day but they are well balanced, nearly all metal and work a treat.

If you have the opportunity to actually hold a range of Airsoft pistols then you may be better able to make a decision when you get the feel for the different types.

I've used all the various P99's available and I currently still own the Maruzen P99 GBB (they do an NBB version as well which is rather excellent and amazingly quiet). It's a great pistol and it sits in the hand better than any pistol I've held. Very comfortable, nice kick on it, accurate and pretty strong too. It's a reliable sidearm, it's seen a lot of use with me without fuss.

The light on it is quite nice, it's surprisingly strong given the size. The silencer is purely costmetic. It does nothing other than look good. It does suppress the NBB version though. It's your call whether you use those, but frankly, they get in the way as far as I'm concerned. And they make getting a holster that will accept them attached an absolute nightmare.

It's an all polymer frame construction, just like the real thing. Full markings on the slide, breech and under the hammer indicator (there's no exposed hammer on P99's). The slide is plastic (though you wouldn't know it to look at it or even hold it). There is a metal slide made by Zeke available, but I've heard bad reviews about it's quality.

It's a lovely gun, bit of a pain to strip the slide on, but other than that it's one of my favourite airsoft pieces.

There's one on eirsoft that looks quite good. I haven't used it though and have no idea how reliable it is

That's the Maruzen one, same as the one I have but my one is the limited Desert edition. Different colour, same friendly results.

Hey guys thanks for all the replies.

I just sent an email to airsofteire to see when the Maruzen will be back in stock.

Will hold off on a silencer for now, don't really mind if its just cosmetic though, even on the NBB version is the sound that much different? LIke for example could you tell if you werent looking if someone was using a silencer?

Probably won't make it to the gathering but hope once I get kitted out and get my mates get some gear too will head to some games.

    Thanks again!

on a NBB the silencer make a big difference., it takes the snap out of the shots., the same with AEGs.,
