    Hi Guys,

Have a dell latitide 505 laptop. When i insert a usb device it does not automatically recognise it. The only way I can open a usb key is to manually go into My Computer > Manage > disk management and change the driver letter each time.
So after this i must open my computer and then open the new drive ( usb )

It used to give me the option when i put the usb in of what to do. Either view files or play in media player.

Anyone know how I can get it back to being as simple as plug and play as such??

Does the laptop have a multi-card reader? This is usually assigned drive letters like 'Removable disk E:, F:' etc. and any usb keys plugged in hide behind these letters forcing you to rename them in Disk Management.
