UCD have now made anti-spam available to students which you can signup to in the IT tab of UCD Connect.

I have received 54 junk email in the past 48 hours and my inbox should be a good test subject.
I have now signed up to UCD anti-spam and I will report back in 48 hours if the number of junk email has reduced at all.

    The eternal optimist.

The question is how many legit emails get caught? If you're lucky enough to have access to your own computer you're better off installing Thunderbird or some such with its own customisable spam filter. If you don't, this is fantastic :D

No it's cool, Puremessage sends me one email with a list of all quaratined mails so that I only need to have a quick scan down and if I spot a legit one I can get it released.
So far (34 emails) it's been absolutely spot on as to which are spam and which are legit.
    I'm impressed.

Can one turn that feature off so it doesn't send that e-mail at all?

I have my own anti-spam system at home but it does seem to be missing a few every now and then.

Slightly off-topic but I'm just wondering does everyone here get spam on Connect? I mean I know some people whose inboxes are clogged with it every single day, but does that happen to most people? I've been using it for three years and in that time I've only received 1 spam email. Am I just that ugly that not even the spammers want to know me?

It has to be said - I've never got any spam messages into that account. It's always been college stuff.

I am very pleased that a number of you do not get spam. However, it has been the bane of my college life for the past 3 years. :(

Anyway two days later and 70 odd quarantined crappy email later and Puremessage has saved my sanity.
    Mission: Sucess!

100% recommended to any and all poor unfortunates who get regular cialis, rolex and 'cheap software for sale' emails. :)

Well I'm glad, it was long overdue. Every decent free email service has had a spam filter for years at this stage, about time UCD played catch up :)

I turned on the spam filters on my e-mail a few days ago. So far it has gotten every bit of spam, and not one legitimate e-mail.

Anyone else think this is great?

Been using it for 3+ years now (since it was launched for staff) and I've yet to lose 1 legitimate email to it. Besides, if you do, its easy to get it back. Although the odd spammail still gets through sneakily. Perhaps 10 to 20 in a year before the filters are updated.
