I spotted one of these on sale the other day. http://www.procare.com.tw/idp9idd35.asp

I was just wondering if anyone has used one or something similar before or if they know much about them?
    Namely

-Does it work? Will it remove all scratches or just very light surface scratches?

    - If I did repair a disc would the quality be affected in any way?

    - If I successfully repaired a disc, would the process affect the surface in such a way that I would no longer be able to copy the disc using normal PC software such as Nero, DVD Decrypter etc?

    Thanks in advance.

Well I think it really depends on how badly scratched they are ?

I myself had some kids DVDs recently which I was looking to rip to my HTPC, however they we all failing at different points in the ripping process, some wouldn't even read, some would get 60%+ of the way and then stop. I tried ripping with DVDShrink, DVD Decrypter, and even AnyDVD, but to no avail.

I also then tried the toothpaste trick, and even Brasso, and still to no avail. In the end I purchased a manual version of what you are asking about, and it did not do the job either.

So it really comes down to how bad you think the discs are ? If you google around you will find info on the above.

    Good luck !

They _can_ help but only with pretty light damage- more dirt/fingerprints really even than scratches.

Note if a disc is failing to rip but without any obvious scratches, it may be copy protection rather than damage. ripit4me deals with these discs that are unripable with DVDShrink / DVD Decrypter / AnyDVD.
