E-Bay sellers selling crap

Well, I made my first mistake. Bought a cheap video card for a friend - was only 25 euro, but that's not the point. Sold by a business account, with about twenty slogans like 'Buy with confidence!' '14 day return!' and 'Be confident in your purchases!'. The 100% feedback and 'Item fully tested!' sealed the deal for me.

what I only realise now, after the card is 100% DOA and sent in wrapping insufficient to clothe an ant, that, in small print:

    Outcome of test: No display.

So I'm pretty furious, but there's no point doing anything because they technically listed the fault.

Has anyone got hit for anything really bad?

You could still try a Paypal claim and see what happens. Failing that, a charge back by your card provider might also work. Who would want a broken graphics card? It was obviously a misleading auction to begin with.

If it was sent by non-registered post, you could claim it never arrived.

How can you say it was misleading without looking at the ad? Please post the item number.

Saying the item is fully tested, then putting the fail result in small print leads me to believe it was misleading. eBay is full of these sorts of sales.

I agree, there are numerous auctions on ebay like this.

Just do a paypal claim for it not have arrived in the post.
