This is pretty random but just wondering does anyone know how the venue is picked. I always thought it would be a gentlemans agreement between the unions but in recent years i've noticed that the millenium stadium and twickenham get it most years. Munster's 02 and 06 finals were there and the other twickers i think. LR had it in 03 and murrayfield 05 or but recently it seems to always be those two. Why is it never in the Stade de France because it being in cardiff or london every year is kinda boring. Paris is a good city(expensive) but why not, are they frozen out by the other unions? Rome would be pretty good also and give the game a bigger push there.

Yeah good point, I'd like to see it played in Rome too...The only problem is that the Stadio Flaminio only holds about 25,000 so obviously it wouldn't be near big enough. (I've never been but would love to go....maybe next season). I suppose they could move it to one of the football grounds like Stadio Olimpico which holds 80,000+, would be cool to see it there, but doubtfull as there would be a high lease on the stadium for the game which would lose lots of revenue, so it'll probably not travel there any time soon for that reason alone.

I don't know what the story with France is. In general they dont seem to take the cup too seriously, remember Lansdowne in '03? Barely any French in the ground. I know HC finals will never need locals to sell it out, but would be nice to see it travel a bit more alright.

Can't wait to see it (hopefully) in Lansdowne when it's built...I know we're going to be hosting a Uefa cup final, would be brilliant to get the HC final too!

I presume the final not being hosted in France is to do with their restrictions on alcohol advertising. Its not even known as the Heineken Cup over there, but the H Cup or European Cup or something. Cant imagine the sponsors would go for it. Lansdowne is obviously out of commission at the moment as well.
