Anybody know if this LIDL DVD/TV (SilveCrest DVT480) will work in Ireland ie has it got MPEG4? The specs don't say. It has been reduced to €139.99 at my local LIDL - the analogue TV tuner version is still €199.99.

update - I downloaded the manual
    here:
    http://www.mysilvercrest.de/en/artikel.php?a=143&av=2
and it says it does MPEG2 and MPEG4 (avi) - so - is this OK for Ireland?
It plays from USB up to 2G and SD/MMC/other types up to 1G by the way.

Unlikely. It can probably play back files, but not live TV in MPEG-4 (Part 2/3).

Thanks - pity - I was itching to buy it at that price for the camper (SWMBO needs to watch her Corrie....) - guess I will stick with the laptop and DVT stick for a while.

The original link to that item was over a year ago.
Where are you seeing it available at €139? It's in the Lidl pages for next Thursday at €199, but it's an analogue tuner - no mention of DTT. Lidl are usually pretty good about the descriptions of items they sell and it would be unusual for them to have an MPEG-2 only DTT tuner on sale in the Republic.

+1. I had a look at it in passing yesterday, and it said analogue in the flyer.

He's talking about last years model, with DVB-t tuner, now reduced at his local LIDL. See link to the manual.

This has been a pretty good case for the locking of threads that are inactive for over a year.

It DOES NOT do MPEG4 reception.
