Newbie at ireland

    Well lads :)
    I just arrived to Ireland from Portugal my home country,I'm trying to find out a gun club in the area of Galway and trying to get in the hunting here in Ireland but i don't now nothing about regulations and hunting/gun law :( is somebody out there who could give me same light about how to get a gun permit or the steps to transfer my one from Portugal to Ireland.

    But i don't hold a Irish license:(, can i import my gun from Portugal any way??:confused:

    You will need an Irish license for your gun.

    You can apply for a license in the nearest Garda station to where you're going to live. Here's a list of phone numbers for Garda stations in the Galway area.

    This might also be useful to give you a background on applying for a firearm license here.

    What kind of shooting do you intend to do? If you tell us, some people here may be able to give you more specific help or advice on clubs.

    I'm in the area of Galway and planing to get in to trapp and same precision with .22s, and do same hunting if I can find some one to guide me in all the necessary requirements. :)

    Find yourself your local shooting ground our target club. Become a member of them, this would make it easyer to get a Firearms cert in this country.
