Problem after ghosting HDD

A friend just got a new HDD to replace his original 6gb drive.
Having a problem after using Norton Ghost to copy the hard drive.
The new drive is 320gb Hitachi drive.
The copy completed successfully, but when I tried to boot from the drive this error appeared.....

"Windows could not start because of the following ARC firmware boot configuration problem: did not properly generate ARC name for HAL and system paths."

I've been searching on google and found a few things, one said its something to do with boot.ini (multi and scsi, or something like that),
another said it was the bios, as in the drive is too big for it?

Has anyone seen this before and have any idea how to go about fixing it?

Try setting up a 6GB partition on the 320 drive and ghosting to it. You can resize the partition later on. cba looking up the limits but depending on the version of windows you can hit problems at 8GB / 32 / 127GB - especially if the partition was FAT32 rather than NTFS

Bigger problem now. The original 6gb drive died (which was why we were replacing it). How am I going to go about fixing it now?

If the path that points to the system files is incorrect or includes the drive letter, you may receive the following error message:
Windows NT could not start because of the following ARC firmware boot configuration problem: Did not properly generate ARC name for HAL and system paths. Please check the Windows NT (TM) documentation about ARC configuration options and your hardware reference manuals for additional information. Boot Failed.

check the boot.ini file first - make sure the new drive is the only one in the system, hope that windows hasn't written a drive letter to it
