My dads mate who breeds them had the same problem with one of his males and unfortunately there was nothing that could be done about it. Although leaving a collar on them all the time makes it worse around the neck.
Your girl must be neutered is she?

Could it be fleas? We had a dog that would rub against anything to Relieve itself from itching.

Our springer cross has just been diagnosed hypothyroid. One of symptoms was bald patches. A blood test confirmed the vets suspisions and she is now on medication for life. I am sure your vet has ruled that one out though?

It sounds like a hormonal condition that neutered and spayed boxers are prone to IMO.

Exactly the same thing happened to our boxer when she turned 5....she had huge bald patches on her back and hind legs. Vet said nothing could be done about it if it was hormones. We used to give her a tin of mackrel or tuna in with her dry food every second day, the oils helped her coat stay shiney. We upped it to every day, and her hair grew back!! She now looks even younger than she did before her coat fell out.

Worth a try, can't do any harm.

Cheers everyone for your advice...yeah shes spayed, was thinking that mighthave something to do with it. The vet just looked at her and said straight away that it was her horomones and that there was nothing we could do about it. Im gonna give her a tin of mackrel or tuna everyday now and see if it helps any, cheers Shelli.

There is a specialist food called Fish for Dogs. If fish helps in this condition it might be worth a try too. It's supposed to be a very good food and I have heard great things about it in relation to skin disorders.

Skin allergies perhaps? boxers are prone to skin as well as food allergies.

I have never heard of spaying/castration causing a problem like that in any breed, i think the lines of breeding and age of the dog ie change in hormones, food and dietary needs change etc... are probably more likely causes.

We buy the packs of small tins of mackrel in Lidl and just mix it in with her usual dry food, works a treat. Hope it works for your girl. Let us know how you get one.

One down side, be prepared for horrible fishy doggy breath :p

Sounds like alopcia and it seems to be very common in boxers. I think it is hormone related, but it does come and go.
