    Hi,

    O2 have a "Mobile Internet 250MB":
To access the Internet on your mobile handset you can pay per KB data charges set out in your Pay Monthly plan or you can purchase a Data Add on.

What happens if you use this occasionally by connecting your PC to a 3G phone via Bluetooth and using it as a modem? Is that verboten with O2?

There are 1GB and 10GB options which allow modem use, but they are more than I would need. Just want the data on the phone as an occasional fallback.

This is allowed with O2 on that plan. Just make sure you don't go over the allowance or you'll end up spending a lot.

yeah it should be fine as long as you stay within the limit.

I just got a new sim with this add-on so I can use a spare phone for sending and receiving email when I'm out and about. Very good deal for €7.50/month.

    Sweet!

Going over the limit is not so bad, as long as it is not "would get you kicked off your home broadband" over the limit.

It is 3c a meg, so if you used 500MB instead of 250MB, you pay extra €7.50. As long as you don't leave torrents running or something for gigs and gigs, then you would be alright.

That is what hacks me off about the data pricing if you don't go for the data addon - you are paying per kilobyte. Scary.

Gekko, whats the cheapest plan you can get to have the 250Mb data plan? I like keeping my regular phone for voice calls and using my PDA for data but for now all providers seem to require the add-on to be part of your voice SIM. Can the O2 option be bought stand alone?

I am on €20/month Easy Life (you can go active life) + €7.50 for data.

I got a data only sim, on which I only pay the €7.50 a month for the 250mb mobile internet plan.

However, I should qualify this by adding that I have a small business account with them, as opposed to a 1-user personal account. I'm not sure whether that makes a difference or not. I have a voice and texts sim card, the second data only sim card and also a third 3G O2 broadband sim with them - ie a total of 3 numbers on one account.

That's precisely what I'm looking for. But I'm on voda so I might look into switching.
