This is the closest thing I have found to a practical looking vest at a good price: http://cgi.ebay.ie/TACTICAL-GERMAN-ARMY-CAMO-Molle-Assault-Vest-VT-54-GWC_W0QQitemZ290217851927QQihZ019QQcategoryZ159036QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem Has anyone tried anything like it? i'd be using it with a G36C (initially); I reckon if I could get a single mag in each of the front 3 pouches and a double mag in a side pouch I'd be a lethal weapon altogether. would you get a single G36 mag in a double 556 pouch (heightwise)?

If you search you'll find a lengthy discussion elsewhere on the boards about choices of vests; I remember some of the more experienced guys had issues with some of the cheap ones falling apart as soon as they took the wrapping off them, and also some recommended brands which they only had good things to say about. It was a couple of months ago, but if you dig it out it might answer a lot of questions for you...

Personally, I got one from MIA but it's too early to say whether or not I'd recommend it. Seems ok though, at @ €50 and I can fit a few G36 mags into it.

Thanks. Can I ask you what one you got from MIA? The South African one is the only one that appeals to me but is not ideal. I'll check out that thread anyway.

the fsbe vest looks good, I think I prefer the "Tactical Fighting Load Carrier Armor Vest", though, it's very similar to the one I posted from ebay above.

edit: what sort of mags would those fsbe vest suit?

Having bought 3 vests (MCam FSBE, woodland FSBE and CIRAS Mcam) from ebaybanned I have to say the CIRAS is far better quality and stronger than the FSBE and worth the extra money.

That said, the FSBE is great too for the money. Just be careful on sizes - the FSBE is not very adjustable (I got extra velcro added to give adjustment)whereas the CIRAS will fit a child or large adult with still some space if necessary:)

On an aside - got an email from Paul at eBaybanned (as I'm sure all his customers did) saying he is moving to Euro€ from USD$ due to the decline of the dollar.

Just checked and all his prices are now in Euro but the good news is that the prices havent changed and are likely to remain at the current good rate (we hope):p

    Good info thanks!

The MARPAT MOLLE TFLC vest looks like a good rig:

I like the look of these helmets, anyone tried them?

Yeah, that one. Good stuff, at the price. Plenty of pockets.

Regarding the vest - it looks the same quality as the FSBE (and ehobbys vests) - they're pretty good. The pouches tend to degenerate (rip) if you are trying to squeeze mags in; but I use M4's...

Regarding the helmet - dont have one but it is very similar to one I use kayaking. Only thing I'd say (having been at GTAC's forrest last weekend) - make sure the ear pads are removable (they are on mine) - so you can really hear every little twig snapping when you are surrounded it matters!! and incase you want to use radio headsets like the Cavalvy ELITE II (and dont like the in-ear ones).
That said - nice to leave them in for CQB - nothing worse than hits to the ear at close range (ouch!):D

Dollars would be better for us, assuming it continues to degrade further against the Euro.

That's what i thought. German flectarn on ehobby is €35 inc shipping. Similar one on ebaybanned is €36. Is shipping really free??

Can i ask how much you paid for yours? My guess is that if I go cheap (which i have to) i'll have to put up with certain limitations. Nothing stopping me butchering the thing of course...

Shipping is included - not a scam.

I assume you mean how much I paid for the helmet I use for kayaking? It was about 80 euro. Have a look at the greatoutdoors.ie website - it's almost identical to the palm protec ace wake for 89€.

Email Paul at ebaybanned about the ear coverings and he should get back to you fairly quickly with an answer.

For airsoft I just use the M88 PASGT helmets with woodland and MCam covers - I think they are a great job - warm with protection, most who try them stick with them. Boy can you hear a head-hit without the feeling/pain:p

    adjustable too...

Did a price comparison with ehobby asia; EHA's still a lot cheaper on some items and I suspect the items are the exact same. Those protec type helmets for instance.

Have done so, i'd say it would be easy to modify anyway.

you don't find them a little heavy? or would you even notice during a skirmish?

one think to watch on ehobby is they dont combine shipping so you could you more than you expect,

the M88 are quite light weight for a helmet and fairly comfortable too

I've checked shipping, on some items such as the helmets ehobby's price + shipping = ebaybanned's price.
