Keyboard issue when in an email in Google mail using Safari

Every-time I use the shift key when creating from new or replying to an email in Gmail, the curser pops up to either the subject line or the To line in the email.

This is a new problem that has arisen in the last day or so.

It is not a problem anywhere else in Gmail or elsewhere.

[This message is being penned as per normal keyboard usage.]

    Thanks

that weird, it's like your shift and tab keys have got crossed, could be in keyboard settings which I think are in utilities, although why isn't it doing it for anything else? mad???
But here's a suggestion, seriously... get rid of safari, it sucks. Download firefox http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
much, much, much better web browzer. I'd say that'd sort you out.

I've a similar problem with my TCD email and it's hosted/run by Google. If I hit reply it just defaults to the subject line and won't go anywhere else - that is the only place it will let me type. This doesn't happen with my other emails so I don't know if it's Safari, TCD email or what. Fortunately I can jump over to Firefox when on campus but it's painfully slow when I use it on broadband at home.

Why use the browser for gmail when you can use Mail to sync up with it and compose from within mail?

Thanks for all the replies: I like the way Gmail keeps all the mails together and I also like the spell checker in 'whatever' when using safari for anything, including boards: does FF have a spellchecker ?

FF will underline incorrect spelling in red, you might need a UK English plugin pack as it's probably set as default US spelling.

I have the EXACT same problem with my Trinity email too. A call to the IS helpdesk didn't help. Strangely, this doesn't happen when i use my personal gmail account

    Seems OK now. Strange.
