I quite fancy Garmin's portable friction mount here...

But would consider €42 delivered to be quite pricey for this. Anyone know if this is available in any real world stores? I'd be happy to pay around the €30 mark as online reviews seem to be very good. Amazon (who won't deliver to Ireland) seems to be the only UK online retailer selling them.

Elara are selling that for €23, plus delivery, although if you are in Dublin and can get out to Parkwest, they operate a pick up system for no charge.

    Hope that helps

Thanks Brophs. Will definitely keep that in mind as an option if I don't see it elsewhere before they're back in stock on Friday.

don't know about price, but did see them in stock in halfords. Note perhaps they do the job, but are quite bulky so keep that in mind...

Do these keep the satnav absolutely steady or do they shake a little bit?
I have tried one of these mounts but the satnav was shaking just enough to anoy me :o

Thanks folks, spotted it in halfords around the €30 afterwards. It is probably just on the bulky side for me to go for it. I like the idea of being able to compeltely remove all signs of the existance of the unit but then GPS units are becomming so common these days that a thief would probably have a 50/50 shot of finding one in a glove box in any newish car. It'll only get more so.
@ skibum - the online owners reviews of it are very positive, it doesn't look like it should be able to hold the unit without shaking but is must as that is something I'd expect would drive most people mad, certainly would me.
