I've just finished watching episode 13 from the fourth season of High Stakes Poker, where during a five minute hand, when jamie holds kings against sammys aces, he whines and crys and moans like a baby the entire way through.

Has jamie gold ever done anything of note? (other than winning the wsop main event)???.

I respect the win, but it involves so much luck nowadays, and every, SINGLE time i see him on tv, he does nothing worthy, and he absoloutly WRECKS MY HEAD.

Have i missed him proving himself a good player anywhere else or on any other program/tournie? Im genuinly interested.

he saved himself a huge amount of money in that hand, by whinging.

Although I have not seen him play too often, I think he gets alot of stick. Is it jealousy I wonder? Ofcourse he got lucky to win WSOP but every one needs a bit of luck to do that. I am sure he has had to have improved since then. If I won 12 mil and was planning to play poker for the rest of my time I would deffo try and improve my game. I know people will come here and say that he is a muppet but thats just my opinion.

I have nothing against him in of itself but HSP showed how painfully bad he was. For a guy who wants to be the best bluffer in the world his ability to never value bet when he had a hand is quite hilarious.

Very true. But was it worth it to look so painfully pathetic??
100g would be for us maybe in a back room, but on national tv when that money doesn't mean half as much??

I agree with all of that. But jealousy is no where in the equation. Believe me. Episode 14 goes on to show how much of a degenerate and (imhumbleo) bad player he is.

Again, opinions are all we got on here. I just wondered if there was any concrete video evidence where he proves his worth.

He has some kind of problem - something like Narcissistic Personality Disorder I'm guessing. He's utterly incapable of reading people and also seems to have little idea how he is truly perceived. For people like that, all that matters is what they think of themselves. The worst thing that can happen a person with NPD is to have any major success or praise since it will seal their disorder in stone and turn them into a monster. He is obviously competent at a certain level of tournament poker but after HSP I think the universal opinion is that if he continues to play high stakes cash games he will lose everything because he has such massive leaks in his game and doesn't seem to have any idea where he is in a hand a lot of the time.

I think he firmly believes he can win solely through table talk. It worked in the WSOP.

It only worked because he ran so hot. I found the sickest moment was when Allen Cunningham shoves with TT and Gold calls with KJ. He starts celebrating and fist pumping like he's already won it, and Cunningham looks ill.

I do admit that his table talk seems to have saved him money on HSP, but only through his own ignorance and good luck. He should have gone broke against Farha, and he made Doyle fold a higher flush. But it's not like he knew what either of those players had in those hands. He hadn't a clue and just got lucky that his opponents had a more realistic sense of hand values than he does.

I saw that episode and couldn't believe what a miserable cuntbag* he is.

    * words actually fail me. cuntbag? not exactly.. pathetic? no, no pity from me... it's somewhat childish but more than that: pure fukcing shameless. the man has no humilty. he really could do with a bit of slap therapy.

Ah yeah when I said it worked in the WSOP I mean in the sense that he was lucky enough that it worked once so now hes convinced he is a master of persuasion or something.

    Maybe he has Jedi powers?

You never seem to see him talk someone into calling him when he's has it... But I've seen him talking people out of hand's loads when he hasn't.

I think everyone agree's he's pretty sub-par against the likes of HSP regulars.

His attempt in the '07 WSOP was pretty laughable too as I recall. Some Scandinavian guy had his number the whole time I think it was.

Just watched him on the second ep of WSOPE. Utter twat. I'd like to see him, Phil helmuth and Humberto all lined up against a wall and shot.

During his Main Event win he talked several people into making the wrong move including Paul Wasicka in the final hand as far as i can remember.

Oh really? Gonna rewatch that, my memories gone to ****e.

Great how Wasicka has gone on to be more respected than Gold.

Its amazing, everybody likes Moneymaker, Raymer and Hachem.
Gold and Yang take all the flack.
I don't like either of them to be honest, but I remember Gold's performance and it was exceptional, and Yang went to the final table as the shortstack and played extremely well, he got lucky and sucked out but thats all part of winning.

    They do??

I thought Moneymaker was generally not liked and regarded as a complete donk.
I also dislike Hachem, think he comes across as a tosser at the tables.

to be honest between the 5 players i put them in this order

    1 hachem
    2raymer
    3 moneymaker
    4 yang
    5 gold

and the only reason i put hachem above raymer is he won a wpt tourie and made a few more final tables after so he must be the best of them.

I remember when Antonius filled broadway as Gold made a set of Kings and couldn't believe the sh1t Gold was coming out with.
They ran the river 3 times and Gold won twice .
Antonius didn't say a word. The contrast between those two is extraordinary.

Its seems to me the only reason the other pros give Gold the time of day is to keep him in the game so he can spew away his millions. If you took away speechplay his game is sunk.

i'd be surprised if he's not doing this sort of thing in a few years.
