    Hi,

My girlfriend and I are heading to Eygpt in June. We are booking flights, hotels ourselves and would like some info and opinions from people who have been there before. We are heading the Sharm first and then to Cairo for 4 days and then back to Sharm for 6 days.

Any hotels to recommend in Sharm?
    Hightlights in Cairo?
    Do we need vaccinations?
    Any general tips?

    Thanks for your help.
    Nigel.

    Wow, June? Are you sure?
I'm just back from Egypt and some days it was pushing 40 degrees, June is going to be intolerably hot for a lot of Irish tbh.

We stayed in the Hyatt regency in Sharm, but there's a lot of great hotels in the area that are cheaper too.

I'll try and get my full trip report up by tomorrow which you can have a read of, it's very long (30 pages in word) but it should provide an insight to the place for you.

You will need vaccinations, there's places that will charge extortionate amounts for them (€400+) so just go to your GP and they'll either have them, or can get them in. I got mine for €150, the girlfriends cost a lot less as she'd had some of them already recently.

Major tip though, spend as little time in Cairo as possible, it's a massive city that is absolutely filthy and the roads are busy at all times of the day. We spent one day there, to visit the pyramids, and one day was long enough. Go from Sharm to Cairo to Luxor, Luxor is much nicer and there's a vast amount more to see there.

I've posted the trip report Here. It's 26 pages in total, should give you a lot of info though and I'll answer any questions you've got on it in that thread.
