Hey, I've been into photography ever since my Dad gave me his old Pentax k1000 3 years ago. I got my hands on a Nikon D40 a few months back though, so it's finally time to face up to all that is digital, which means Photoshop... I've been steadily working on my PP skills since I got the camera, & I think I'm at the stage where I could do with some outsiders with more experience than I giving me a few pointers. Let me know what you think, & why - thanks!

Best thing is if you say what you were trying to achieve, then maybe you'll get some response to say whether someone thinks you've succeeded or not. Without that I can only say that they do appeal to my own taste, and the first one has a slight seventies look about it, despite the UPVC windows - probably due to the cyan colour cast that makes it looks slightly like cross processed or expired film. They do look obviously processed, but again I'm not sure if you wanted that or not.

hi yv, I'm not big into photoshopping but I hope you aren't offended if i offer the following for consideration. In all instances i may be overstating the obvious that you already know about so forgive me if you're already aware of these minor issues.

I think both have slight horizon straightening issues that could be easily solved (that assumes that you want to solve them!). The first very minor, the second - slightly more. With the first if it is a symmetric image that you were after then you'd have a little to crop from the left hand side - again only very minor and easy corrected.

They're both very good actually for that style of photograph.

I find the reflection in the window of no 1 somewhat distracting to the overall composition but i guess theres not a lot that could be done about that except to take again at a different time / lighting conditions.

In terms of the post processing done, I'd say that i like the overall effect - it has the sense of being from a different time / place and that adds to the 'interestingness' of the overall image.

Anyhow, i hope the above is of some interest / use to you. At worst - i guess it will serve to bump the post ;o) Sorry, I don't have a raft to say about the photoshop side of things but there are many others around that might lend their voice on that account.

    Cheers.
