Ram oddity

    Hey folks,

I'm hoping somebody will know a little bit more about this than me. I built a PC from parts via Komplett a few years back, with 256k RAM. I'm not immensely technical, but was able to get it put together and up and running with no problems.

This week, I got a stick of 512k Ram and stuck it in the computer. However, when I boot the machine up with just the 512k stick, it is still showing that it only has 256k. The motherboard has two Ram slots, and when I put the 256k and 512k in side by side, again it shows that it has 256k only.

The machine runs fine with the additional ram stick in place, as far as I can see - there are no alarms or anything. The only issue is that the machine insists that it only has the 256k. I've checked the ram on the board and it is definitely stuck properly in place.

Has anybody come across anything like this before? I'd appreciate any help getting this running porperly.

Take out the 256 and put the 512 in it's place. Turn it on and see if it sees the 512.
