    Probably cabin crew/flight crew training.
Think the last bit of training for all of that is mandatory to do it once on a real plane?

Bit of a misleading thread name ! The plane in question is EI-CJD, formerly owned by Ryanair. Its now used by the airport fire and rescue dept for training purposes. Surprised it didn't receive a lick of paint after is ad contract ran out and considering Eircell is no more !!
Slightly OT I know Ryanair have several other All Over Ads, are there any recent new ones ? Or has the practice stopped since they phase out the 200 series planes ?

Its used by the Airport Fire Services as a training aircraft. Can be filled with smoke etc to simulate fire conditions. It was parked out side fire station for a few years and was moved over the winter to current location.Dublin Fire Brigade have used it before for training excrise. You will see similar mock ups at most airport like LHR has the big green purpose built aircraft.Think i have seen them in Kerry and Waterford cant be sure.

Shannon has the old Iberia B727 EC-CFA

BTW its not on the runway, either. If it was there would be nothing arriving/departing :P

This aircraft has also been removed from service, now Ryanair have no Logo jets in operation.

They only have that becuase the paint job was free from Boeing. I think that was the 50th B737-800 that was delivered.

From stock? What do you mean? They don't keep aircraft "in stock" painted in their own colours. Every aircraft that comes off the line is painted to the receiving operators colours. In the Airbus factory you will see the aircraft going down the line with the tails already painted in the operator colours as the tails are fully asssembled and painted before they are put on the aircraft.

Perhaps Boeing have given them more than one in their colours? Have you seen more than one at a time?

There is an Air Berlin B737-7 in the same boeing house livery

There are a few situations where you will see oddities.

    1. Where ther eis a gap in ordering (maybe an airline shut down) and an aircraft will be just done in a primer / neutral colour, e.g. A330 to be used in the USAF tanker trials.

    2. Ryanair are selling on aircraft, even straight from the factory. Boeing aren't happy with this.

You mean buying them in bulk new and flogging them on "as new"? they can only do this for so long.

Not sure how many they ordered, Well they did get Boeing out of the sh**t after sept 11th, you can partially blame Boeing for "giving" them away, that’s business.

It was either the 800th 737-800 or the 800th 737NG to be delivered, I don't have the exact statistic to hand.
