Tin virtical light green line on screen.

I was using a laptop last night and noticed a very tin vertical florescent green line on screen stretching from to top to bottom. It remained through several programs but disappeared on a reboot. Could this be potentially serious? Could it be hardware or software related? It is a touch screen.
