TM Desert Eagle Hard Kick mags

I have 3 mags, but they all appear to leak when filling them with propane.
I can hear a very distinct hissing sound and smell the gas as I fill them, which I have never experienced from filling the mags from my other 2 GBBs. I've also tried the ultra air green gas and the same thing happens.
Is this a known issue, is there a simple fix?

Do they leak after you've stopped filling them?

Moderators, you may move this thread to the troubleshooting section.

    Mine don't leak.

They leak while filling them, not once they're filled.

Then they don't leak. The sound you hear is air being pushed out and some gas escaping.

You are holding the mag upside down when filling yes?

I don't think its recommended to use Propane in a TM GBB!

"You are holding the mag upside down when filling yes? "
Yes I'm holding the mag upside down as normal.

"Then they don't leak. The sound you hear is air being pushed out and some gas escaping."
I never heard this sound from my M9 mags.

"I don't think its recommended to use Propane in a TM GBB! "
The guy I bought it from was using green gas, which I believe is the same as propane without the integrated silicon oil.
Also airsoft eire have listed 134a/green gas as compatible.
Are you sure that the DE is not able for propane? It has a metal layer over the plastic.

IT can take propane, the manufacturer only recommends green gas. The mags don't leak. When you press in the valve on the the mag some of the gas and air is escaping through the valve.

This seems to be a TM thing, do the mags function alright?

Maybe the seals have become dry or o-rings are damaged?

I'm no expert I'll be the first to admit when it comes to gbb mags and seals, I haven't successfully repaired one yet :D

Who knows how to repair a gbb valve seal here?

I've four of the mags, they all make the low level hissing sound, they're not broken.

    When filling?

    Yes when filling.

I had the same problem with my extended P99 mag (before I lost it), the seal is cold so it contracts slightly, thus breaking airseal and allowing gas to escape. All I did to combat this was hold the valve end of the mag in my hand for a minute to warm it up a bit. Once the gas is actually in the mag, the pressure built up by the gas will keep the o-rings sealed.

Thanks guys, I did spray silicone oil in the mag well and on the release pin to help soften the o-rings. I left them ovenight untouched for max effect, but still have the hissing sound while filling them. I will try warming the mag next as per NakedDex. Will let ye know if that works.

The other thing you could try is taking the o-rings off carefully and sitting them in a bath of clutch fluid for a couple of days. They could be dried out from lack of lubrication or slightly damaged, this method "renews" the rubber of the o-ring and swells it slightly. It should become a better fit after that and seal a bit better.

Now thats something I wanted to know.

    Can silicon oil be used?

Go dex, bank of technical info :D

That should help my M9 mags. Thing is there's no real point....the fixed hop is sh1te. Anyone know where to buy a new hop for a KJ M9?

No silicon oil won't do it. That doesn't penetrate the rubber.

I found a fix for the leaky mags. I placed a 3mm o-ring on top of the mag fill valve before filling it, this creates a perfect seal between the gas bottle nozzle and the mag valve. This trick works on the Meister Glock 17 mags also. I have never had this problem with any of my 3 KJW mags, so I am guessing that the mag valves are shaped a little better than the TM or the Meister ones. This will save lots of gas wastage in the long run:D.
