Anyone using IPDrum IP voicelink or MobiGater Pro?

Hi Folks - I'm just wondering if anyone is already using the IP Voicelink or MobiGater Pro GSM gateway?

I'm looking for advise as to which is the best to use. In particular I'm looking at setting them up to use VoIPStunt or similar. Looks like the cheapest solution is to have 2 Tesco Mobile sims and buy the "In Touch 30" bundle giving free calls to other Tesco mobiles for 30 days for €11.99.

Would love to hear if anyone has set this up already.

    Cheers

    D-M.

    Neither of them look great.

The IP Voicelink one is skype only, so it won't work with voipstunt.

The MobiGater one does both skype and sip. The main problem for both of them you need to have them connected via usb to your pc, therefore have your pc on at all times.

I've used the MV370 (here) as a sip GSM gateway and it works well. This connects to your lan and will call the configured SIP provider when it receives a call, it also registers against your provider to allow incoming calls via the SIM.

Depending on whether you want both incoming and outgoing calls, it might be easier going with the blueface goMobile. You call a Irish landline, and from there input the outgoing number to route the main part of the call via VoIP.

Thanks for the feedback Matrim, it's not very clear on their website but IP Drum now have a software update allowing the Voicelink to be used with SIP.

The USB connection is not an issue for me as such as during the day when I will want to use the service the PC is always on.

What I'm not clear on is whether either of these units will interface with my ATA or whether they will only interface with a softphone.

I already have access to a landline dial through using 13434. What would be ideal is if some VoIP service offered a GSM contact number so that I could avail of it on a "phone a friend for free" plan. Does anyone know of one?

As it is I was looking at setting up the Mobigator SIP (€87 delivered) with two Tesco mobile sims and using their €12 a month service to call all other Tesco Mobiles for free.

If it's usable I reckon I could reduce my €100 a month Vodafone bill to about €20 a month total.

My understanding of them is they don't interface with another device \ phone. The device registers on the VoIP \ Skype network for you and appear as the user. Any calls to that user over IP are then forwarded over Cellular to your selected number. Any GSM calls to the Cellular number are forwarded on to the VoIP network, probably with some sort of 2 stage dialling (i.e. You call the GSM number, then input the number it is to call via DTMF)

Yeh it's a two stage dialling process, for entries in your contacts you can save the entire numbers with a pause (p) in between.

Now that you've given me a lead on how these work matrim, I figure that something like this with an rj11 connection would be ideal for me. (Approx. €60 + duty & VAT if customs stop it.)

I could then connect it to my ATA and have multiple possibilities for placing the outgoing call. My ATA has a pass through for the fixed line, so I could call Irish & UK landlines directly as I have unlimited calls on my fixed line plan. For international and mobile calls I can either use 13434 over my fixed line (normally more reliable) or VoIPStunt via the ATA.

Anyone see any flaws in this?
