    Hi
can anybody tell me if there is a connector
which would allow me to connect 2 satellite dishes to my
Silvercrest satellite system,as it is a pain pulling out the
cable from the reciever everytime i want to switch between astra and hotbird
    Thanks

A diseqc switch is what you are looking for, if your receiver supports it.

As Driver says you need a two way diseq switch and your silvercrest will work with this

Looks like im in the market to buy one. Is there a diseq (diseqc)? for switching more than two dishes. Also any idea what they cost and where available?

Can control up to 4 different lnbs and Tony is a pleasure to deal with. He also has a 2 way one. I am sure a switch or something could be used if you had more than 4 lnbs/dishes.

I think it is potentially possible to switch between 8 lnbs using diseqc if your receiver supports it.
Havent tried yet, tempted, AFAIK you need two 4way diseqcs and a 22khz switch.
#Maybe someone can provide more details if youve tried it.

    Are Sky boxes diseqc compatible?

Wouldn't think so - there's no user interface for specifying which LNB it is to use when adding a channel manually....

What is the signal loss through these diseqc units

one receiver can support up to 16 LNB's but there is a trick in it. you will need diseqC 1.1 (not 1.0 or 2.0) sorry can not make a drawing here

    diseqC 1.0 or 2.0 - 4 LNB
    diseqC 1.0 or 2.0 - 4 LNB
    diseqC 1.0 or 2.0 - 4 LNB
    diseqC 1.0 or 2.0 - 4 LNB
and than from each diseqC 1.0 or 2.0 (receiver output) goes to diseqC 1.1 and only after that to receiver

probably it is cheaper to get a motor

just wondering what are the settings required using the Ferguson receiver in order to get for example Astra 1 on one LNB and Astra 2 on the other? Where do I specify the Disq switch settings for each LNB....

Just specify the number of the port that you want to use on the switch.

Are you getting two of them Astras with one dish? What size is it?
I am asking because with 1.1 m dish I have Astra 1 at 19, Sirius at 5, and Hotbird at 13. could not get astra 2 at 28 with the same dish...

if your using a triax mutiple lnb bracket it can only be adjusted to receive satellite signals with a satellite spacing from 3 degrees to 20 degrees, hence why you can't get Astra 2.

    You could get 1W, 5e, 13e & 19e.

You'd have to sacrifice 5e in order to get 28east.

You can almost get 7E to 28E if those are on opposite ends of the bar. Depends on dish. With a different F/D like on a 95cm channel master the 23 degree spread reduces to 12 degree! i.e. only 19E to 28E effectively!

A Wavefrontier T90 toriodal dish will do about 45 degree spread, about twice the sky of a typical dish with multi-LNB arm.

For most dishes the minimum sat spacing on multi-LNB holder is more 4 to 5 degrees. I can't get 19, 16 & 13, the middle space about 30% less than width of horn. I did it once with "spike" type LNBs rather than horns (then minimum is about 3 degrees).

The T90 seems to manage 3degree spacing with regular LNBs (It has a secondary reflector a bit like a gregorian, except chunk of doughnut shape rather than oval/circular.).
