When I start my machine it shows the wireless adapter in the system tray & picks up & connects to my wireless network, but I still don't get Internet connectivity. Even though the wireless adapter is showing "Connected" with a signal strength of "Excellent" all I get when I open my Browser it the usual "This Page Can Not Be Displayed".

Once I reboot my router everything works fine, but the next time the machine is shut down & restarted, it happens again.

So on every startup I have to boot the router too in order to get Internet connectivity. OS is XP Pro.

    What is causing this?

Have you tried doing a repair on the connection after starting up?

Yes I have but it just goes through the motions & then says it can't repair it. Then I reboot the router & all is well until I restart the PC.

I'm thinking it's not picking the IP when released by the router or something like that maybe it's not quick enough but it always connects when the router is rebooted.

I'll reinstall the card drivers just to see if it could be that.

When you start up do an ipconfig /all and see if anything looks wrong. Post it if you like.

You could also try clearing out the preferred networks list on the computer just it case the priority network is not your home connection.

Also (and this depends on what type of setup you have) if you have Windows XP SP2 or later make sure the security encryption for the router is set to WPA-PSK. Any OS earlier then that use WEP

    Uninstalled the device & drivers.

Reinstalled & all is working fine.

    Thanks for the replies.
