    I didn't see a thread anywhere.
It seems rather pointless, and will most likely be ignored, but there you go.

It is pointless. Lights on FTW

It's a symbolic gesture. I, for one, will be turning out all lights for that hour. It's just a pity that, even with Greens there, our Govt. will be showing it the same disdain that they have showed the car-free day for the last few years. They're turning off lights at a few monuments - big ****ing deal. Try turning off all the lights in the offices that they don't use at night for a start. Or maybe even every second street light would help.

    And to Xavi6: GTFO

It would have made more sense to hold this on a night when clocks arent changing. It would make calculating the energy saved more precise.

It's a pointless stunt, utterly meaningless. Supposedly it's a way of increasing peoples awareness of climate change! :confused:It's not as if we haven't had that issue rammed down our throats on a daily basis for years now.

As far as I can see the only reason local councils are involved is to avoid been accused by the green meanies of being environmentally uncaring.

It's nonsense and everyone knows it.

They did something like this in France about a year or two ago - turning off the lights on the Eiffel tower. A pathetic symbolic gesture IMO. And when you consider that the French grid is backed by 95%+ non-fossil sources, made it even more pointless. Probably didn't save any Carbon Dioxide emissions at all. What we need is action, and a comprehensive stratety, not ill-concieved token gestures.
