    Hi Folks,
What would i expect to pay for
    200 x 100 x 8 RHS in S275 steel ( HotFinished)
    What is Hot Finished?
I will need a total of 20 metres and i am worried about the cost, i understand the local steel supplier wll quote but i just wanted to get an idea if anyone had an idea.
    Thanks,
    Pete

Not to sure of the prices. As for hot finished, they are hot rolled steels. They are heated up red-hot and pushed through rollers that squeeze the metal, literally squishing it into a particular profile, depending on the shape of the rollers. The process takes a long time, and because the steel is so hot for so long in th open air of the steel mill, the surface of the metal has has a long time to oxidize, producing a thick, tough oxide scale with the characteristic blue grey finish of the final product.

u can check online with www.ferrum.ie

pricing is a bit tricky as you need to check what lengths u need and then see what is available.

Suppose u needed 3.5m lengths and the section was only carried in 6m, depending on where u buy they would cut it for u and not charge u 100% for the 'waste'

see here for most common sections:
    http://www.corusconstruction.com/en/design_and_innovation/structural_design/the_blue_book/
    are u certain it is 200 by 100 by 8: seems a bit light at 8 kg/m

    Hi Irocha,
It is definetly 200 x 100 x 8 but it contains 4 columns and four beams resulting in a rectangular conservatory which will be glazed.
    Thanks,
    Pete
