I'm in the market for a decent enough scanner, but have a rather limited budget. I was looking at the Yupiteru MVT-7000 and MVT-7100 which seem to be held in reasonably high esteem. What are people's opinions of these- and what would be a reasonable price to offer for one of these second hand. I've been hunting on ebay and found a couple of examples (not many though) and have my eye on one which has had its bands unlocked (i.e. 8 to 1350Mhz).

What do people here think? What would be reasonable to pay(I was bidding on one in the UK but its gone over £100 + shipping, which I think is a bit too much). Would an ICOM be a better buy?

    Cheers,

    Shane

I used a 7100 briefly and thought it was a great piece of kit. Worked well for decode stuff like ACARS for which I was using it at the time. I'd have no hesitations in recommending it.

As for how much to pay - not sure at this stage. £100 sterling plus postage etc. is probably up towards the max I'd pay alright, unless you can get an absolute minter in the box with all the bits and pieces in which case I'd go a little higher maybe.

    Cheers Paul for that.
Am I right in assuming that the only difference between the 7000 and the 7100 is the coverage (i.e. the 7000 goes up to 1350Mhz while the 7100 goes up to 1650Mhz)?

I found a guy in Israel selling a 7100 ebay for £80 plus shipping, so its winging its way to me. Wonder will I get whacked with customs? Hmmm- we'll see. I may also have a 7000 as a result of a long auction from the states, in which case I may very well be selling one on Boards before too long.
