Was over in Paris for the last few days. Here's a few pics for C&C please
    :)

I was actually approached by the police and told tripods were only allowed to be used by professionals in he city just after I had taken these but fortunately I'd already got a few decent ones, by my standards anyway:p.

The first one could be cropped, there's a lot of black space at the top in my opinion.

The second one seems very desolate and there's a couple of bits of rubbish on the ground, it leaves me cold really. Maybe if there was a bit of colour in the sky it would be better?

The third one is a bit too busy for my taste.

The first one i agree with popebuckfast, it just all seems too far away.

The second one i actually really like, Im not a massive fan of paris, i fing it quite a cold city and this picture shows that for me.

The third i think would work better as a street scene, without the focus of the building in the background strangely.

Thanks for the input guys. Here's a cropped version of the first shot

I'm not going to say that the cold feeling is what I was going for in the second one because I wasn't going for anything, just wanted to try a bit of night-time photography:p but that is what I like about the picture too.

    good stuff
I've just come back from Paris a few days ago after 2 weeks of "work"

the cropped one looks much better
I like the arc one, but I'd had zoomed in a bit to tight it to the arc and the tower and preventing that perspective distortion you've got there

I'll PP some of mine and post them on a new post
BTW, no-one said anything about tripods, I've been out taking pictures almost every night

I'm surprised they didn't tell you that the eiffel tower's lighting system is a copyrighted image and stop you from taking any pictures (weird story about that - the tower itself is not copyrighted but the Philips lighting system is).

Nice pictures anyhow - just make sure you're on the right side of the law :) (applies to many bridges in the US too).

    edit:
Did you have a UV filter on? It just seems there's some ghosting/flare in the shots (I see it often in shots that were taken at night with a UV filter left on).

Paris is great for photography. Heading there in a few weeks and looking forward to it :)

I've seen loads of people use tripods with no problems. I was only stopped once near the louvre. It was okay to take a photo outside the barriers/ropes but not inside them.

Yes I did, I was wondering what was causing that ghosting effect. Thanks for letting me know what was causing it:)
