    Hey,

Hoping someone can help with this. The other day i was using my HP laptop and i put it down and the screen became completely messed up. It happens as soon as i turn on the laptop.
Turned it on last night and it was working when i turned it on but then as soon as i picked it up the same thing happened.

Here is a pic i took of it as it is difficult to explain

    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

Well if you say it was working then the LCD itself is ok, as is the signal going to it. When you move it you may have loosened a connector/wire which disrupted it, and resulted in the weird appearance.

Would you be confident enough in taking the thing apart and looking for anything thats obviously loose/disconnected. That would be my 1st port of call, but then i'm the kind of person who likes to take things apart!!

Someone more experienced may know better or have seen it before.

try it with an external monitor to rule out an problems with the video card (or basically motherboard if integrated video)

if its fine with the external monitor then the cable and connections between the lcd and laptop base might be the problem

    Thanks for the responses.
I wouldnt really feel confident opening up the laptop myself. Is there anywhere that would do that? Really dont fancy having to send it back to HP for another 3 weeks to get fixed.

Ill try it with an external monitor first when i get a chance.

    Cheers

Have you added any RAM to the laptop at any stage since purchase?

And plugin a VGA cable and get the output to an LCD TV or something like that ot test output.

Tested the output over the weekend on a display and it works fine. Havent added any RAM.
Going to bring it back to the shop today so it can get sent off to be fixed. Means 3 weeks without laptop though :(
