Has anybody ever been to a Ophthalmologist - I have three in Galway - Experiences?

    I need to see one because of a lazy eye...

    Here are the three in Galway as listed by the department of social welfare.

    Can somebody also confirm if these addresses are in the city.

    Well if they're registered with a Govt Department, then they must offer the service.

    Clybaun is about 5km from town, the other 2 are within walking distance.

    I'd expect that a specialist like an ophthalmologist won't see you unless you've been referred to them by your GP, and that the GP rather than the Social Welfare would be the best source of a list of candidates, and advice about which of them specialise in what types of work.

    Even if the Welfare people are paying for it ... because, really, they aren't medical experts and won't know what sort of doctor you need to see ...

    If you ring UCHG they should tell the names of the ones working there or else you GP. Most require a letter from a gp.
