I have just moved home, into a new apartment in Cherrywood after being in the UK for awhile, and need to sort out my internet, gas, electricity and tv etc.

Firstly, board gais wanted 400e as a deposit, or 200 if i was willing to pay by direct debit. fine. done

Next was the ESB, not a problem, no deposit needed if i pay by direct debit. done.

TV, to get Sky multiroom installed I need a landline (which Eircom want 25.36e per month line rental alone for, can you say ripoff!!) I cannot give a VoIP number as it needs to be an eircom line.I don't need a land line for anything else as my mobile works perfect for me.
I was waiting 45mins to speak to NTL (UPC) So just hung up....

If i settle for the standard sky package i'll be stung for 45e installation charge. :(

Then theres the broadband package, again, very expensive... and the "unlimited" download is always capped

Is there any ONE company that caters for more than 2 of these?
I cannot believe the lack of choice here. I had forgotten how bad it was.

When living anywhere else you can get yout tv, gas, electricity, phone and internet all from the one company.

Is everyone else finding it oh so hard to get there tv, internet and phone sorted out without forking out hundreds??:(

What internet company are you using? Any advise would be GREATLY appreciated.... :o

I know, great isn't it - competition my eye!

If I were you I would take the hit on the Sky installation. Chorus/NTL whatever they are called are cowboys pure & simple (2 quid a month surcharge for not having direct debit set up???). More expensive a month for an inferior product to sky. Chorus cut me off last wednesday for paying the bill late & at least now I am free of them. Sky switch imminant.

And don't even get me started about broadband in this country.

There is just such a HUGE gap in the market for this.
If one company was to offer it all it would make a mint!

Yeah, i was looking at sky alright, i think I will just go with the standard one box install and have peace of mind that i can actually get Sky on the phone if i have a problem etc.

I'm staying as far away from eircom as I can & will prob just get a cheap and cheerful 3 or o2 wireless usb net connection for now

Hey, I have my tv, broadband and phone all from UPC and have had no complaints (although I might be the exception :)) I just find it way easier than having Eircom & Sky.

There is and they are. UPC offer phone, broadband and digital TV.

Sky is good but expensive, especially if you don't have/want an Eircom landline. I don't want an Eircom landline and I don't like the idea of having to leave a box connected to a landline for a year or whatever.

Maybe you have Smart or Magnet or one of those available to you, it really depends on where you are. Check with some of your neighbours.

I can't find a better deal than my current one for my requirements which is broadband, phone and digital TV with sports/movies etc.. UPC are the cheapest by a mile.

I had Chorus, or NTL, or UPC or whatever they are calling themselves in the last place i lived.

    No tv for 5weeks.

we had 6 people trying to call them everyday and couldn't get through to anyone who could fix our problem.

Still had to pay line rental etc for the 5 weeks it was broken.

    It was AWFUL.

Managed to get a sky+ box on an offer and will just pay the install.
