    I have the ancient 75-300 version of this. To be honest, I very rarely use it. f5.6 at 300mm isn't really much use for anything other than bright sunny days. Needless to say it doesn't get taken out much here ...

    have the same type of sigma lens 70-300 f4-5.6 for pentax, at the higher iso settings its useful enough but then of course you get some extra noise

    At first I thought it was a misprice on the VR version (would have snapped it up at that price ;) ) but the older G version is meh when I already have the 55-200VR.
