Hi not sure the best place for this:

Using a dvd recorder with sky +
last time tried to use it (dvd recorder) really low quality picture when copying from sky +
tried to copy tonight and it would not start recording. It will play dvd's fine. Its a 'wharfeale' model from argos.
Does it sound like the recorder is done for?

Are there any good value new ones out there?

I know tesco were doing clubcard deals last weeekend but didn't know I might need new recorder then :(
Don't need a fancy one; do dunnes etc do them?

Thanks, under a bit a pressure cause need to copy over a load a stuff for exams over weekend.

EDIT: My main question at this stage is where to get a cheapy replacement. Anyone know of any good deals?

MODEDIT: Thread moved to Home Entertainment: Video Players & Recorders, as I believe that to be the right place.

Does the recorder give any reason (onscreen message) for not recording? Maybe incompatible disc?

Byte thanks a mill for moving to correct forum.

I switched the cables around and got it to record again, problem now is the quality is really low when I try to copy over from sky +, any ideas why this would be. ?

(when try to copy over picture is kinda hazy even slightly hard to read the screen when gong into planner, feeds the sky thru fine when dvd turned off, plays dvd's fine but when I turn on the dvd player the quality on the screen for sky goes way down)
