Never been myself but a few friends have. They say the Thursday and Friday are good days, not too packed, good racing and good nightlife (weather's been good the last few years too). My brother went Grand National day in 2006, said it was terrible. Could barely move with the crowds. Swore he'd never go again.

Never been to aintree, but have done york, Royal Ascot, cheltenham etc.
They're all pretty much the same, don't go the main day of a festival because every tom dick and harry is there. Most don't even know what a horse looks like!! The days leading up to the main day are usually savage, good (enough!) racing, most of the time the weather has a positive impact, you can move around enclosure without clostraphobia!! I'm not saying satuurday at aintree couldn't be the best day you'll ever get out, but it depends on what your into!! Imo you'll get the best view on the telly wherever you are!!

Yeah i was there last year. It was jamb packed on ladies day but the other days weren't too bad. Lots of nice totty though all dressed uo to the last. Its a pain if your buying drinks as you can standing in line for ages. Have a look out for people with kegs on the backs that walk around selling pints. that should save you queuing. Great nite life

Have been to Aintree the last two years and have had a great time. It is totally different to Cheltenham but has its positives. A few words of warning though. Make sure you have tickets in advance. Unlike Cheltenham where you always get tickets off touts for under face value you will not be able to get the for under face value for Aintree. Also I would recommend you buy decent tickets....oone of the good stands, Princes Anne etc....as if you are in the regular area it is a joke. Full of pikeys and lads drinking cans and acting the fool. The night live is good but many of the race goers are far too wasted to make it out...you will see plenty of totty lying on the road sides after racing as they are too wrecked to walk.

The Friday is actually more crowded in the tattersalls enclosure nowadays because the embankment is not open until the Saturday. Whoever said the Friday is quiet mustn't have been there for the last 8 or 9 years.
Any of the rooftop tickets are good but expensive and sold out months ago.
