a licence first of all! im 3 months waiting now, nearly four!

then if you decide to go for a pcp,you will have to get a divers bottle or a pump to charge the chamber!

if you get a springer then ye dont need anything else apart from..pellets... and maybe a fairly decent scope!

    Hi triggerpull.

Anything with a muzzle energy above 1 Joule is regarded by law as a firearm and must be licensed as such.
Effectively, this means everything more powerful than airsoft devices.

can those guns be charged with a compressor for spray painting?
what pressure are they workin at?
how many shots on a charge?
have they a longer range than a barrel breaker?(bsa supersport)
    sorry for the questions,but i don't know

    thanks lads
the reason I was asking there are a few for sale on boards 35-40 euro and no mention of any paperwork. Would like one for rats and the like sounds like cheap fun. On the other hand with my shotgun and .22 I want to have room for something with a bit more power for foxing later on don't want to ruin my chances with the Sargent!

These things run at up to 200 bar (2790 psi), so a regular workshop compressor would be hopelessly inadequate.
I'll leave it to the air rifle aficionados to go into more detail, but I'm led to believe that 250-300 shots can be got from a full charge.

Indeed, I'd like to see that too.
At that price, I'd suspect they're (cheap and nasty) airsofts of some sort, so would be useless for anything other than tickling the rats.

i've a daystsate pcp ,i use a pump for charging it as its good for about 60 shots when fully charged, they charge to around 220bar and reckon your compressor for spray painting ain't up to it i've a compressor and it only goes to 5 bar its use for air tools. i know that the compressor needed is the same for filling dive tanks and air thanks for fire fighters ,very expensive.i'd never go back to a break barrel. the air rifles are rated in ft pounds mine is 12 ft pounds the lowest and i shoot rabbits with it ,i also have a 20 ft pounds Air Arms break barrel , sold it and glad its sold big and heavey no fun

for most air-rifle related techie q&a's id have a peep at airgunforum : http://www.airgunforum.net/agf/index.php?act=idx

its uk based, so they get away with a lot more stuff ye cant get here such as: suppressors, moderators, lasers, night sights, military-style etc, but it does cover a lot of technical stuff.

for irish paperwork related stuff, id consult here!

p.s the air-rifle that was for sale for 30euros is here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055248217

ive looked it up and most reviewers diss it as an introductory childs air-rifle!

you would still need a licence for it in ireland tho!

    thanks guys
    oi was only asking
it took me 7 months to get a license for my bsa supersport

the supernintendo here is extra strict on rifles and an air rifle is a rifle,so technically a shotgun license is easier to get

    silly but true

it was in hunting/for sale and wanted. Chap from cork sells a lot of odd and ends. The Rifel was a break barrel. Still might get one!!!
