Hey! Going to Portugal later this year. Flying into Faro. Just wondering do people generally stay in Faro or elsewhere and if so where would be the best places to stay!? We are a couple in our 20s...! Thanks

It really depends what you are looking for. If you want superpubs and clubs then Praia de Rocha, Montechero or Albufeira are best. If you're looking for something quieter than Alvor, Lagos or several other places would be better.

We're flying to Faro in July with Ryanair and booked an apartment from

Have a look on Tripadvisor at reviews from different resorts and see what suits you best.

Go west into Spain. Faro is just a stone's throw from the border and the Costa De La Luz in Spain is much nicer and more undeveloped than the Algarve.

    Hey scruff 101,
Been to praia de rocha few times and would recommend it as good place to stay if into nice restaurants, pubs, small enough strip with only few nightclubs and disco bars.

Albufeira and montechoro are also similar to above but more british people there, praia de rocha full of irish, germans and norwegians(i think). Found staff everywhere really friendly and accommodating.

Check out algarve mor apartments or jupiter hotel, right opposite beach and nice and clean.
Stay away from clube praia de rocha apartments unless you like high rise apartments that are tacky &full of drunk dubs going nuts for a week or two.

Went to lagos one day for drive and they are building it up as tourist resort but theres nothing in it afaik.

Alvor and carvoeiro not too far from praia de rocha and are nice and quiet.

Go to Lagos, it's a huge town, I don't know how the last poster says there's nothing in it. It's a nice, relaxed but busy place with a lot of bars and restaurants, but no nightclubs.
    I really like it.

I have been to the Algarve several times, think that it is a great place for anytype of holiday.
Went to Albufeira/Montechoro on girls holiday a couple of years ago and we had a brilliant time. Went back there a few years later with my then boyfriend and had another great couple of weeks. The Strip (on the way down towards the Beach) is really brilliant, loads of bars/restaurants etc.
Myself and my mother went to Villamoura in 2006, much quieter spot than montechoro but we still enjoyed ourselves

Would Montechoro be suitable for a lads holiday would you think?

Seville is only a couple hours drive away, and really well worth a visit.

yeah montechoro is perfect for a lads holiday. been the last two years.
the strip is packed with clubs and pubs, and kiss and kadoc(big discos) are only a taxi away.
there are also plenty of sportsbars and a few 'gentleman' clubs:cool:;)
