Anybody planning on heading over to any of these 2 festivals this summer? Anyone here ever done them before? This year's festivals are on the 22nd-24th August.
Tickets go on sale Monday evening coming (31st) with the official line-up announced about half an hour before they go on sale. And they sell out in a matter of minutes too. Price is £155 (€195-200)
I think Im gonna try get a ticket but Im not 100% sure I'll go, having trouble trying to get someone to head with to it. So I'll either sell it off (which should be easy) or else just grow a pair and go it alone which does seem a bit weird to be honest...though I still have Rock Am Ring with a few mates so it wont be a complete disaster.

This is the rumoured line-up, which most people believe to be mostly true, although I dont think it's 100% as Bullet For My Valentine are down for the Sunday but have been confirmed to play the Download Festival.

I have a genius idea for this that, if it works, its gonna be so cool! I'd try and get a job there for it, as the Campsite Assistant person(CAT). Sounds cool, get to see majority of bands for free, have a laugh I'm sure.

WAs actually gonna start this thread myself here. Dont think I'd pay to go over though, as sterling is too expensive and all that. Thats the only problem there, otherwise, I think its quite a cool lineup.

Mainly would want to see QOTSA there!

Went to Reading in 2000. Had a great time. Easy to get to and the line-up is always damn good.

Saw Rage Against The Machine and Slipknot that year as well!!!

Jaysus, now thats a lineup! And we get... REM

The new REM album is quite good. Wouldn't mind seeing them live this year.

They're a great band, one of the best bands of the last 20 years. But IMO there best days are well behind them, they haven't been relevant this decade and I just can't get excited at the prospect. Would've preferred Jay-Z like Glasto have this year

50 Cent being bottled and chaired off Readings main stage was one of the funniest things I saw at a festival.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

Idiotic considering 99% of bottles hit other people in the audience.

There was a lot of backstory to it though. Basically a couple of months previous to it happening 50 cent had walked off at a gig in New York after someone had chucked one bottle (empty) at him. This was a guy whose claim to fame was being shot six times. Reading already had a pretty long history of bottling people who didnt fit in with the festivals rock attitude so it was a pretty forgone conclusion 50 was gonna get destroyed. Evidently he knew this as him and his crew took to the stage throwing water bottles (full) at the crowd. Probably not the best plan of action as the largest storm of projectiles I ever saw was chucked at him. Think the opening sequence of Gladiator except with bottles instead of arrows. In fairness to the crowd the majority of the bottles chucked at him were empty, he played for 20 minutes until someone chucked a camping chair at him and he walked off.. not before chucking his microphone into the crowd and skulling some poor chap.

So back to the actual point of the thread...is anybody getting ticlets tomorrow evening?
Im thinking if I can use my Debit Card I might buy 2 and try get one of my mates to come to it, if nobody wants to then I'll just sell 'em off.

Bo, I'm gonna see the lineup, then see will I apply for the job! Thats it really, dont like having to switch to sterling and all that for anything, find it awkward.

I want to go but I don't know how I am going to afford it. I have literally no money.

Missed out on tickets. Gutted. Every f*cking site crashed or had none available and I was on it 15 mins before they went on sale.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,097 ✭✭✭✭zuroph

keep trying, and tomorrow the site needs to be checked regularily, what happens is credit cards get declined during business hours and the tickets are put back on the system. also, people will have booked more tickets than they are entitled to and orders are cancelled. this happens every year, keep checking.

i bought mine in the presale! :)

Tis a pretty sweet lineup alright. Would love to go to Reading on Friday/Leeds Saturday...4 bands I really wanna see there(will be seeing most of them(3/4 at least) elsewhere in Europe anyway, but still, its QOTSA!

I've also lost a hell of a lot of respect for BFMV...what the hell they doing on the NME stage?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,097 ✭✭✭✭zuroph

i wanted to go to pinkpop, but this is so handy for me to get to. cheap ryanair flights, mate lives in reading so can stay there the first nite, and the last nite. going to the campsite by taxi on the wednesday leaving sunday nite or monday morning. tuesday to tuesday flights

I'm heading over to Leeds again this year, working as a CAT again. Can't wait to see RATM and QOTSA!! Going to be another excellent year

sold out. so ur left with ebay, or touts outside, or...

get there early on the wednesday and queue outside the main entrance, every year they hold on to some tickets and sell them there. you need to get there early though.
