The Problem I have is any Video File I try to play Errors and sometimes wont play at all, but most of the time its just plays the Audio and not the Video.

I had a root around the internet on how to fix this but could find anything.

Anyone know what my problem might be and how can I fix it

    Cheers

windows media player 11 is available for download from windows update, maybe that will sort your problem out.
if not, download the vlc player.

You mightn't have all the codecs you need installed.

Try installing one of the packs.

    Klite Codec Pack

    or

    Combined Community Codecs pack

I think the Combined community Codecs pack (CCCP) is superior to the Klite codec pack. Go for that one young fella. And stop using Media player! Use VLC media player!

I tried to Download WMP11 but the version of XP I have is too old for it.

I'm pretty sure it is something to do with the Codec because of the Error message I get sometimes. I'm pretty sure I have VLC player I just dont use it because I'm used to Media Player and I use that for pretty much everything, and other than this I never have problems with it.

Whats peoples problem with Windows Media Player anyway. I'll try download that CCCP later see if that solves it!!!

by rights if you're using XP, you should be able to use WMP 11... maybe you need to make sure you've got all the windows updates etc... double check by viewing windowsupdate.com in internet explorer...

The prob sounds like as gadgetman496 said - you dopnt have the codecs... Klite codec pack is excellent in my opinion, and comes with Media Player Classic as well which is a very good lightweight player...

There are only two reason I can think of where you would be unable to run WMP11.

As darraghrogan pointed out "Updates". Surely you have XP SP2 installed?

The other would be if your copy of XP was not genuine

As to your question "What's wrong with WMP anyway"?

Well, nothing really, it does what it says on the tin & if you like it? you use it.

    It's a bit like IE 5, 6, 7 & 8. Millions use it, so it's more of a "Let's bash Microsoft" thing then anything else really :D
