    Full movies like the spidey?
Better download to pc and transfer to phone!
explain what you're after in a bit more detail - there are countless options!
(you can watch clips via youtube mobile or a program call emtube, or via vodafone live!
Various converters for your pc to convert movies to a good format for your phone; etcetcetcetc...
There's a free divx-player for symbian 60 3rd edition - that's your phone's os - it plays most avi clips and movies floating around the web, and there are free converters from format xyz to avi/divx.... Etcetcetc...
And in a minute s.o. here will have a better suggestion, I'm sure... There are really plenty of options, but say what you want?!

    Hey
Ya i want dvd movies like the bourne ultimatum etc. i dont want you tube clips i know how to get them. but i thought i would be able to go on vodafone live and download another movie you know like you can with an ipod and stuff.

vodafone don't have a movie download service... unfortunately there is no other 'download' service for you mobile you can pay for at present in this territory (that i know of)...

i'm assuming of course you were planning to pay for it... 'cus asking for sources that infringe copyright / illegal downloads isn't allowed here... just to clarify that point :)

well, so only reasonable solution is to convert your dvd's on a pc and transfer them to your phone(for "backup" purposes)...
Or download (legal) movies to pc and transfer...
    Or, or, or...

Convert your dvds and downloaded movies to mp4 format using something like Xilisoft DVD to MP4 Suite. To optimise the movies for your N95, your mp4 movies need to have a screen resolution of 320 x 240 and an audio bitrate of 64 kbps.

Edit: Check out this URL for some great tips on converting movies for your N95:

Does any of the software included with the Nokia N95-2 rip dvds to mp4 and transfer to the phone? Or is that just wishful thinking?! Just got the N95-2 and installed software from the CD included and there's so many programs I don't know what to use! I'm fed up installing loads of programs cos I don't have much disc space. Now I have to download Windows Media Player 11 in order to transfer music files?!

Hey, I got that symbian 60 3rd edition but when I try to transfer it to N95, it tells me it has an invalid certificate, any suggestions?

You don't need media player 11! Just connect the phone to your pc via usb. On phone screen choose "mass storage" - presto...works like a usb stick!

and what are you on about re. symbian???? That's your phone's operating system (so to speak)! You don't need to install it?????!!!!!!!!!! But you need applications that are compatible with symbian 60 3rd edition (also referred to as s60 3rd, symbian 9.1 etc etc...)...

lastly: no, the nokia pc suite has no dvd ripper built in, and no movie converter either! To convert clips get "internet video converter" a free light converter that handles most formats, and isn't too heavy on your system!
If you wanna spend money get mobiola's dvd studio...it rips dvd's and converts them to a light format for your phone, you can transfer them easily via drag and drop. Mobiola also converts ordinary clips etc etc... But it's about $19.99

well.....i am curious: what phone did you have before? You seem pretty overwhelmed; maybe you know someone with a nokia phone who can explain to you some of the basics in person??? (there's the added problem that you apparently have never converted files etc etc... ???)

    @10JQKA,
sorry, got the posts mixed last night -I thought you were the original poster!
You obviously meant the divx player, right?!
    Where did you get it?
It doesn't say "expired certificate" by any chance?
If so, just set your phone's date back a few months before you install the apps, and once it's installed and working, you can correct the date!

    Thanks Strecker,

Yes, I have divx player installed now. I managed to sort the certificate error message. I've converted my avi files to correct resolution etc for the phone but now I haven't got a clue how to actually transfer the file to the phone.

Do I do as you said and use the phone in mass storage mode and transfer the converted files that way. Will the divx player be able to recognise these files and play them? Thanks for your help.

Yeah! Got it sorted, now able to convert and play files on the Divx player.

Another question please, I now want to transfer some music onto the phone. What is the best format or quality to use so that it doesn't take up too much space? Thanks again.

i actually find the aac format that nokia's pc suite transforms tracks into (if you let it - you can send them as mp3 or any format you have them in) before it sends them from your pc to your phone a pretty good compromise between sound quality and file size... Generally I'd say 128 kbs is the mimum for good sound quality, but I've got some stuff downloaded that was bearable at 64! (depends on your musical tastes, and how audiophile you are!)...

you don't need to use the pc suite of course! Just repeat what you did with your movies - "send" from pc to mass storage (if you send a bunch of tracks, put them in a folder on you pc; so you only send one big folder, instead of repeating the procedure a hundred times!

if you enjoy the divx player, and watch a lot of videos on your phone, you might consider buying Lonely Cat Games' "smartmovie"! Has a great little converter for your pc, and a divx player for your phone (with some neat features... Though the free divx player is cool, I find smartmovie is always a step ahead - and lonely cats are great at updating their programs... )

Thanks Strecker I'll check it out. There seems to be some pretty cool applications you can download for the phone. I'm pretty new to this so excuse my ignorance. The google maps mobile is great.

If I use my wireless network at home to download stuff or browse the web instead of vodafone live, will I still get charged by Vodafone for this? I'm a bill pay customer?

    no, you won't be charged!
To try out apps, you can check out handango.com and symbiangear.com (you can usually get trial versions of the sharware programs)... Though they have few freeware apps, it's handy to check out stuff, and understand what certain apps do...from there it can be easier to look out for free alternatives! Glad you enjoy your new phone, btw!

for freeware (though caution: they often forget to mention it's actually just trial-ware) try getjar.com and mobile9.com (good for themes)...
And check nokia's "mosh" - a community with downloads, tips and tricks...

for an alternative to your built in browser try "teashark" at www.teashark.com (it's only in beta/test-phase, but it really rocks! And I'm using it as we "speak" - it's much faster than om, and most web pages look a lot better than via opera mini!) it doesn't work yet on many models, but on n95/8 and other s60 nokias it's brilliant!

Watching a full length movie on a 2" screen would do my block in, I would prefer to rent the thing and watch it on television. I have the N95 and it is a superb phone with an excellent camera function and Mp3 player that’s as far as I would go with it apart from making phone calls.
