Looking forward to making the trip in the SL.

Hopefully without the roof by then!

Never been to the Durrow show. Is it a free-for-all, or is some sort of pre-registration required?

I will be going in my Alfa, plus I'm trying to organise as many Alfa's as possible via www.alfaireland.ie

I just turned up last year. It's pre 1970... so anything like my 1976 had to pay a nominal fee to exhibit.

free pre 70, fiver post 70, front seat passenger free in too.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 25,558 Mod ✭✭✭✭Dades

Good stuff. I can stretch to a fiver (for 2 more yrs anyway!)

Closer the time we should post a photo guide of boardsie cars to watch out for. :)

If the weather is up to scratch I'll go up for that (maybe I can get HiFive to give me a spin up ;) )

Laois, find Portlaois and go south. Its where the Cork and Kilkenny roads split.

Of course coming from Kerry your best shot is head up the N21 and past Limerick and head to Portlaoise then south. Long journey :(

    Mike.

Yep, the joys of being down south:rolleyes:.Its not too bad though, the roads are much better than they used to be!!

    Mike,
If I decide to go up you'd be very welcome.
It's always handy to have someone to push the car out of the mud:)

The forecast for Sunday 20th ?

yep. Except that was yesterdays prediction, today wetterzentrale says 10-12 degrees. Sure it could be anything untill the day itself.

    I'll be there in this:

I was there last year in this:

the field is rubbish unfortunately, more suited to tractors than classic cars. If it's any way wet the gateway will be a quagmire, it's in a slight dip and will be wet even if the field is dry. Get out early if you can ;)

So in order to get out early, does that mean you are better to arrive late? ;)
The (early) weather forecast is not good.

Much and all as I have been looking forward to this I was hoping to have the bloody roof off by now!
Car shows in the rain are as much fun as funerals.

From Dublin drive toward Limerick, and take the Cork turn off the motorway about an hour from Dublin. I think!

Durrow is one of the towns on the way to Thurles.

Though I may not be making the trip... :(

Happy enough where Durrow is, its where to go in the town I was wondering, can't be too difficult to find I suppose.

Well Mike you missed a great day, the place was full and weather perfect.

Typical! It was raw and unforgiving down here.

    Pictures from Durrow today

    Durrow pictures here

The turn out was excellent and not a hint of rain, although it was cold. I thought the access in was much improved on last year, and although there was quite a queue to get out it was well organised.

Hmm wish I'd gone now. Roll on the summer.

Great show credit to all. . Spoiled only by the exit queue.
Anyone cop the russian Zil Radio wagon...The guy told me he gave two and a half grand for it, full of radio gear...WHAT A TOY!

Thanks for the link. :) Looked like a decent turnout.

Like Mike, I looked out the window this morning and figured summer hadn't arrived. Didn't relish the task of washing the car in the rain either.

Nice to meet a few of ye lads. Thanks for the chat.

The queue out was a bit hard on the FIATs,
two of them stalled and needed surgery to re-start.

Ticking over for an hour or so, as you're queuing to try and get out
is harsh treatment on an older car.

Was a good show, great turn out, some nice Anglia's there, also nice selection of Manta's. Was pi**ing rain when I left home, had wellies and full wet gear with me but didn't need them thankfully. Fresh cold breeze tho...
About an hour to get out of the field but I suppose thats what happens when you have a good crowd.
All in all a good day.
