    Hi Everyone,

Just a question or observation that I'd like some feedback on if anyone could provide some please.

I was going to book a return flight for 4 adults with Aer Lingus from Dublin to Orlando (MCO) for later in the year. The total cost was given on the Aer Lingus Website as approx €2648.

I decided to select USA as my country from the drop down box on the top of the Aer Lingus website. Then I proceeded to select a one way flight from Orlando to Dublin on the day we're scheduled to come home etc.. I was presented with a total cost for the 4 adults of approx $1360 US Dollars. At current exchange rates thats approx €900.

Next I selected Ireland as my country from the drop down box on the top of the Aer Lingus website. Then I proceeded to select a one way flight from Dublin to Orlando (MCO) on the date we're scheduled to depart & start our holiday. I was presented with a cost of approx €1562.

Naturally I saw a saving of at least €200 for the exact same flights & airline that I had originally being considering purchasing a return flights with so I booked the 2 'one way' flights instead of the return.

I know its effectively the same thing but wondered if anyone else tried this or should I anticipate any customs / USA Entry issues ? I'm presuming that even though we don't explicitly have return flights, the fact that we have the one way flights booked for coming back to Ireland that we'll be ok ?

Thanks in advance for any inputs / feedback

That's mad. Did the same with a return trip to New York. Worked out €469 to book it as a return and only €429 to book as two one-way flights.

I'd imagine it is because of the week dollar.

Found that today too when looking at a multicity return flight Dublin-Boston then San Francisco-Dublin.

That gave €890 but when booked seperately the return flight is €100 cheaper.

You don't need to bother with home country and all that, they just display the currency of the place you are leaving.

I tested out how much my dublin-boston flight would be if charged in dollars by checking a return flight from boston and returning the day I'm actually leaving and yes, it was cheaper.

I presume it is because of the weak dollar. If only I could figure out a way of booking the dublin-boston flight in dollars without having to buy a flight from boston to dublin first!
