House Auctions

Anyone know where is a good place to look for details of upcoming house auctions? Also, is there any way to find out about old houses that are being demolished?

I'm no expert on this, but it strikes me that either antiques and collectibles dealers (including salvage yards) must have a way about finding out about these houses or else the builders who are demolishing houses must take all the good stuff and sell it to salvage yards. As I am renovating an old house now, I'd love to get some of those materials without paying a middleman.

Apologies if this has already been raised. I did a search on boards.ie but couldn't find anything.

    Hi RoSullivan,

Keep an eye on planning notices in your local area (on line or newspaper).

People have to get permission to demolish and rebuild.

Find out the local builders in your area that do renovations and smaller building projects.
You can deal with the smaller contractor just tell them what you're interested in buying.
They get a few euro for something that they would have to pay someone to haul away.

Find out what auctioneers in your area do house clearance auctions and ask to go on their mailing list.

    Hope this helps.
