I'm thinking of going back to college and I'm interested in NUIG commerce. I'm aware it leaves you with a broad range of options when completed, which is what I want, but I'm looking for examples of careers that it leads into. Can anyone give me some info on this? Cheers.

it can lead into accoutancy, law and other things. My sister just finished a 3 year degree last year in galway in commerce nd is now training to be an accountant,

don't forget economics. can get jobs with the likes of Teagasc, CSO, the state writing economic reports etc. or the EU mind you. and with economics you can also go down the financial markets route, trading, working as an analyst with a bank/firm and some such... it's very broad, you won't be short of options leaving college. you'll probably need a masters though in whatever you want to do though.

there's marketing as well, but i dont know what specific jobs would come from that route.

It lead me into Information Systems development. Although there is not a lot of IT in it (you can opt to do a major in IS in 3rd year I think it was) having the commerce background is great as you need to understand business so you know how IT can be applied to it.

I would recommend Commerce, its leaves you with a range of options and you can specialise in whatever area you like e.g. Marketing, IS, accountancy etc.

commerce is very broad, i also know people who have become secondary teachers from it- and those who continue on to do the llb. its a good degree, also a lot easier than others!

I finished the B.Comm last in NUIG. I done the management of human resourses stream. Iam finding it difficult to get a job in this area with this stream although I am subbing in the local schools for business teachers.

I, however would have chosen another stream in 3rd year. I was talking to a friend that accountancy and he is working for KPMG. He says there is no shortage in jobs.

Im going back next year to do a masters in Ecommerce however.
