Hi all, apologies if this is the wrong place!

For some strange reason I can't get onto any google related website i.e. Gmail, Google, Youtube. This only started happening today. I can get onto every other website no problem. Whats also strange is that I'm also having the exact same problem on my iPod Touch?! Which makes me think its a network problem but I don't know how that could be?!!

Any advice would be much appreciated as its really beginning to annoy me!

I saw a thread saying somebody else on a mac was having issues too. Might be a general problem with google?

Same here. Gmail, Google, Hosted Apps, all vanished since about 8pm for me. Also mail.com is missing too. Yahoo and boards are here so I'm not completely stuffed....

Pings to google.com are just timing out. Only new thing for me is a Firefox security update, but even IE can't get google right now.

Nifty site! Ok, so what do I do next? Surely it's more likely to be a local problem to my PC or router than the ISP (BT). Any ideas?

    Thanks a mil

cant get into goolge / gmail etc since early yesterday. I have goolge browser sync - could this have something to do with it.

Also when i turn on the wireless , i get a message to say that there is a problem with one of my network settings ? - could this have something to do with it??

im also on BT broadband - is it all BT customers ?? or are others affected?

What BT dns servers are you using? I'm on BT and having no problems.

I'm using 194.125.2.241 for Primary and 194.125.2.240 for Secondary btw

restarted my router, got new WAN IP address, and it worked for me as well. My router is configured for Nailed-Up connection, so had the same IP for ages. Maybe some routing tables on some BT equipment remember wrong route paths, or maybe if someone to get the IP from 78.16.0.0/14 B-Class wills till have problems.. (I've got new IP from 194.125.0.0/14 range). And it newer was a DNS problem, it was routing (Traceroute never left BT infrastructure).

culabula88: can you restart your router/DSL modem?

Yeah i'm on BT too. Reset my router there a while ago and its working again! Must have been a BT issue!

Update your DNS settings to use www.opendns.com

I used to be on BT and the DNS servers were sometimes flaky

Also use http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ if you're not sure if a site is working or not.

It's highly unlikely sites such as Google.com go down...

I had similar problems recently up until last night - also on BT. Changed back to OpenDNS (used them before, but switched back to BT's for some reason recently) and Google magically worked again...

Yeah, it was a BT problem all right. I had the same problems as described above.

A traceroute to www.google.com didn't get past BT, so that's where the problem was.

Google was not responding again, but this time I was just getting a blank page apparently generated by Squid (a proxy server). I've seen this before - what are BT up to?
