Where has Google.ie gone ? I haven't been able to connect to them, see their ads on boards.ie or log on to gmail.com. I can't even ping them !!

Am I the only one ? I've not added them to my firewall or blocked any of their sites, what gives ?

I've done everything I can here but still no joy. If I type google.com into the URL bar it changes to google.ie so I presume something works. Boards won't load because it uses google ads which are stopping it. I'm now using Firefox with adblock stopping google stuff so now boards.ie at least loads.

I can't even ping it which is really strange. I've reset my router and disabled the proxy in my smoothwall box !?:confused:

OK, a traceroute to google.ie gets outside my network as far as :

    5 ge1-0.core001.bmt.esat.net (193.95.140.17)

    after that I just get * * *'s.

This is using the i.p. 66.249.93.104 for google.ie

    Dunno, there's always http://www.google.com/ncr

ZENER, it's not you. Doesn't work for me either. I'm getting same traceroute report as you do. I see you're with BT Ireland (or whatever they're called these days), just like me, so I think something happened on their routers.

Wouldn't ping for me at around 6PM, and my sister said that she couldn't google stuff during her computer class. It's working fine for me now though.

Edit: I was using BT when it would not work for me.

2nd Edit: Maybe a BT Ireland problem so?

It was working fine for me all day, but its down now. No mail and can't connect to gtalk either.

Not really the right forum for this, but Ill leave it go, as there are a few 'Google down' threads around the board at the mo, so moving it would just double things up.

It wasn't working for me this afternoon, but worked after I disconnected and re-connected my router... seems fine now.

Mmm, all good now. Strange. Sorry 440, this wasn't really the right place for this type of thread but I had a fine head of hair prior to this starting yesterday. There's something comforting about sharing it with friends . . . . windows users just wouldn't understand :)
