How much was your pay rise this year?

I'm interested to know how much people got in their pay rises this year.
I was told I'd get 6.5% but when I "did the math" it was 7.5% per cent.
It's less than what I asked for but at the upper end of what my company was paying (4-7%).
In the space of 4.5 years my salary has increase by 95%.

The reason I ask is that I was thinking of changing jobs, but with the uncertain ecomonic climate, should I sit it out?

To help me decide, I'd like to get an idea of what other people's pay rises are like.

Recruitment websites, etc., love this sort of thing, but I don't trust them, as they can manipulate statistics to encourage their own business.
    "Lies, damn lies and statistics".

I would trust your information rather than theirs.

    Thanks.

Mine was 4.5%, however I am just 6months there. I would expect twice that next year or I'd say I'll jump ship.

4.5% after 6 months looks quite good to me
In the last 6 years the only way to get a pay rise was to change job...

I'd say 9% is alot to expect.

Even though you are there 6 months, i'd expect close to the same as a person there a year, the reason being in 12 months time (when the new salery still applies) you will have 18 vrs 24 months exp, and thats alot closer to each other

4 years here but due to "belt tightning", along with the usual line "if we look for more money the work will go to a cheaper country" ... 2% :(

25% this year , but i started out on a really really low wage.

will try and look for same in another 6 months.

    25% this year.
Just under 3 years in Job, 100% payrise since starting.

You just have to make yourself unreplaceable, and then make the threat to leave.

What is a low salary that gets you a 25% increase? Ive been working in the same place since graduating for 3 years, this year I made a record increase of 6.5% and I am still sub 30 for a Technical Team Lead... With rises as small as this I'll need to work another 5 years to be on decent money and oh yeah.. inflation...

I went from 20k to 25 k ,as you can 20k is a very low starting salary.

Took job out of college , taught I'd get paid more , but didn't want to turn it down as it was a developer role, a lot of friends from college got support roles , which paid more to start off with, but now dislike their jobs.

I will be looking for at least 28k plus some sort of benefits (VHI at least) in another 6 months if i'm still employed here. Probably try for 30k.

Well being on a salary in a company who dont pay overtime yet expect you to work past quittin time, the extra hours need to be accounted for somewhere!

Em, Time in Lieu, i'd rather that than overtime to be honest

Don't get pay reviews until July.

When you start out low (< €20k), the pay jumps can be huge, which creates an unrealistic expectation for future pay increases.

The only reasons you should expect a massive pay increase are:

    1. You've been promoted
    2. Your workload or the nature of your work has changed to something more skilled
    3. You've gained a significant qualification relevant to your role
    4. You've performed exceptionally (i.e. made or saved the company 100's of 1000's in cash)
    5. You're shagging the boss.

Otherwise, be happy with an increase in line with inflation :)
