I got a Double Eagle UMP today and it's great. The only thing I'm having trouble with is that with distances over about 20 metres it's starts to rise, even with the hop up on it's lowest. Any help would be appreciated,

    Ice cold monkey

you probably have the hop up full on instead of full off?

What vtec said, or you may need to just break in the hop abit, or get a harder hop rubber.

No, what do you think I am, an idiot? Oh wait.............just kidding, I'm not THAT stupid. And by the way I'm a complete newb so no really complicated operations.

ok maybe it will need a difficult operation to fix, PROPERLY but I just adjusted my site, I still have to aim down for close range though.......:p

Anyway it can be normal with a new gun, my rpk is now fitted with a brand new madbull rubber, so is rising on the lowest setting, but it will wear in soon.

try and slide the hop up completley the other way and see if it has any effect, you might have it off by mistake.

tried it, there doesn't seem to be much difference between fully on and fully off:(

Ok, I got one as soon as they went on sale here so I should be able to help you out.

If the adjuster isnt having much affect its very likley that its a particularly hard one and thus isn't flexing to meet the arm of the hop unit. You have a 500rnd mag and a full auto setting. Use them(Not one long burst, not a good plan, just do a load of short bursts). This should soften it up.

By now its not working at all what exactly do you mean?

i mean that up full and not up at all doesnt make a differecne: they always drop short.

I looked through the hop up (with the rubber off) and i couldnt see anything moving.
    Does that help???

if im shooting on full auto should a have the hop up up or down???

:confused:(i think the  is appropriate here!!!)

cant seem to do anything, still hasnt been fixed, and now theres a piece after breaking, at this stage i think im looking for a replacement hop up unit. Any suggestions???

It sounds to me that you lost the hop-up nub. You can buy a new guarder hop-up bucking and nub from ehobby for $7. Buy the clear one for our low 328fps limit. The guarder hop up buckings are a little thicker than most stock ones and require more breaking in, so it doesn't over hop.

so basically its not an expensive or tricky fix???

Its a cheap and easy fix, provided you didn't lose any parts of the actual hop-up unit itself.

and if i did and i need a new hop up???

Worst case, then yes you would. Form what I can see on most retailer sites hop ups are sold as whole units only the buckings are separate. If you lose a spring or one of the little cog wheels, odds are you can't get them separately form what I can see one most sites.
