    hey again....

Can anyone tell me is there a major difference between a 20 inch and 24 inch barrell. Its in relation to tikka t3 tactical and for deer hunting. Does it really make a difference....

    Thanks

    Joe

Longer barrel usualy equals more accurcy and better ballistics!
Flatter trajectory etc! But for deer would it really matter??
    Up to the shooter!

Ok Robert, Don't mind what they say, size does matter even if it only
amounts to 4" if that all your talking about. keep on practicing start with a .22 and see how your groups measure up.
Focus on the task in hand and it will get better with practice!

you will suffer a loss of velocity of around 40 -60 ft/sec , so the deer aint goona notice the difference, the accuracy part is dependant on the barrel quality ,and tikka are quite good-so the shorter barrel will give you a better handling rifle especially if any woodland stalking is involved, although there will be a bit more muzzle flash in the shorter barrel..but all in all the ballistic difference is minimal-;)

I have a 243 with 19inch barrel and it is every bit as accurate to 200m as my 6.5 with 24in barrel, for deer stalking it will make no difference provided you can find a bullet weight/type that suit your gun it should all work out fine, had a t3 tac and they a fine little gun.Good luck

I use a tikka T3 .308 with a 20 inch barrel. there is no lacking of accuracy and as one of the guys posted earlier a deer wont notice the slight drop in velocity from the longer barrel. I found that most ammunition will shoot good groups from my rifle but i stick wth the 165 grain accutips because i like tem for the deer. If you need anything else just contact me
