Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Seens as my hunting partner has buggered off to Australia with himself, I'm all on my lonesome when it comes to having someone to do a bit of lamping and rough shooting with.
I've given up all hope of joining the local game club, so no point going there.
I'm also starting into Deer shooting, the local f.o. did an inspection on my safe two weeks ago, so I'll hopefully have my .243 license in the coming weeks.

So..... if theres anybody in the same boat in the Dublin / Kildare / Wicklow region, feel free to give me a shout.

    Cheers.

    .

That annoys me as the NARGC actively encourage committees to take on board new members, I have been reading this since I started on boards. Is it really that closed around you?

    Oh it really is!
I remember posting about this last year, but basically I'm tying to join there since I was sixteen, I was told to come to meetings once a month for a year and then I'd be allowed in, I did this and they then told me that they were full and unable to take me.
I've tried to join a few times since, each time being told they were full.

What really gawls me is that I'm born and bred in the area, and 80 percent of the members don't and never did live in the area!

Report it to NARGC and explain what's happening ?

thats an absolute disgrace, my own gun club does nothing, barely holds an agm, but atleast they let new people join, id ring the head office and see what they say, no club can have too many members..

I had the same problem last year and trained the young lad(13) and he's brill now :D. he cant wait for the training licence

I'm afraid I would have disagree here. The club I'm in has now limited membership to lads living in the locality only.

The reason is that due to major road networks decimating the shooting lands and bungalows dotted here & there throughout club grounds the actual ground which can be safely shot (in peace!) is reduced to 10% of what the club originally had. If it continues, as is, the club will have to wind up within a few years.

The committtee decided that as the land can only barely accomodate the current members no new members (except locals) would be taken on. If additional land is acquired (which is highly unlikely) then this will be reviewed.

The attitude at the meeting was that firstly the club must cater for & accomodate existing members, safeguarding their interests - accepting all applications would only spoil the sport for all.

    +1 for that.

If the landowner gives permission, then there is nothing the club can do.
One word of caution though - make sure you have insurance!
